Some of you may have saw this year’s XXL Freshman cover and pulled a face like J.I.D. But among the highlighter pen dreads and doodled face tats, J.I.D and Ski Mask The Slump God are two of the standout talents: quirky, compelling and as nimble on the mic as anyone this side of Kendrick Lamar. It’s no surprise these gold-star students have been asked to come up to the front of the class and kick off this year’s round of XXL Freshman cyphers.
