Word on the web has it Drama is the one who sold Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late reference tracks recorded by Quentin Miller to Meek Mill and his camp. The Atlanta DJ just took to Twitter to hint at the dirty deal. The rumor has been circulating for a few days now, so it’s safe to say Drama is simply confirming what we all have been suspecting for a minute.
When Drake liberated If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late earlier this year, the rap world was confused whether this was a mixtape or an album. Shedding light on the mystery, DatPiff’s KP stepped forward and explained the project was supposed to be a mixtape, hosted by DJ Drama, but ended up being a full-length record.
Originally we were in talks to release it for free…and have DJ Drama host and even make it an official Gangsta Grillz…however the label was not in favor of that and they struck an agreement to release the project the retail route and it would count towards one of his albums.” – KP, DatPiff
Further, when Flex leaked the first reference track on HOT 97, he said, “[Quentin Miller] gets paid $5,000 a month. He’s from Atlanta. He does a lot of work in DJ Drama’s studio.” Putting two and two together, it is quite obvious DJ Drama had access to the demos.
Earlier today, trustworthy industry insider Fadia Kader tweeted out, “You know what’s the wackest part about these reference tracks. Is that a very well known DJ sold them to Meeks camp…,” and then deleted her tweet. For his part, Drama just wrote, “None of these n****s is ya friends. I put my intergrity on the line. And for what? smh,” and added, “The Philly Curse.”
You can hold one of Meek’s many Ls, Drama. Or maybe buy one with the money you received from your sale.
