21-year-old South London’s Yas VW drops off her latest offering, “Be the One” where she blends her sweet vocal harmonies with a classic ‘80s tinged R&B sound.
The talented singer is astonishing on the new record as she serves up a unique sound of music which I think the UK music scene is missing. Driven by her delectable vocals and honeyed alt-pop textures, this new-age love song presents the young artist wearing her heart on her sleeve. “Be the One” possesses a fresh yet nostalgic flair, cushioned by ‘80s synths and a hypnotic drum pulse.
Accompanied by a stunning music video directed by Reece Selvadorai, the visuals for “Be the One” beautifully encapsulate the early stages of romance and simultaneously provides a taste of early ‘00s reminiscence.
Sharing her thoughts on “Be the One”, Yas VW explained: “Be the One is a reminder that true love can be achieved. The guy that I’ve fallen for has lost hope that he’ll ever find that one person that he can experience the thrill of passion with. Searching but failing to find the one that can do this for him, he doesn’t realise that I’m right there under his nose the whole time, waiting for him to notice me.
