Afrobeats rising star Afropop singer-songwriter YKB (Oluwo Yusuf Gbolaga) is changing the genre. He creates new Afrobeats with enough edge to reinvent the local music scene.
The emerging Lagos singer-songwriter delivered a single of real, pulsing Afrobeats. “Bo Card” is a sweet, honest love ballad. YKB’s honeyed vocals glide over Funwon and Spax’s seductive soundtrack and punch the listener in the belly.
YKB narrates a story about falling in love with a lady so attractive that he would risk financial ruin to be with her over crashing drums and exaggerated promises. “‘Bo Card’ symbolises spending,” says YKB. Many may relate to trying to convince a lady you’re a good fit. That she won’t regret giving me a chance.
