Is a new Jay Z album on the way?

Fans are running wild with speculation about Jigga’s first album in four years. Last month, Swizz Beatz fueled reports with his “Album ModeZone” Instagram post. Hov has even fanned these flames, by announcing headlining gigs at Made in America and The Meadows. But now, there’s a new hint to decipher.

In recent days, banners reading “4:44” have popped up in New York City and online. Some Twitter users have claimed that the ad source links back to TIDAL for a project — song, album, or otherwise — titled “Superhero.”

It’s unclear whether this connects directly to Jay Z, but the speculation ensues. After all, the number 4 has been significant for Hov, who was born on Dec. 4. His wife Beyoncé was born on Sept. 4, dropped an album titled 4 in 2011, and the Carters have matching “IV” tattoos. It’s also believed that their daughter Blue Ivy’s middle name is a play on the “IV” numeral.

If this is, in fact, a Jay Z album announcement, it will be his first since July 4, 2013, when he dropped his most recent project, Magna Carta…Holy Grail.

Last year, there were also rampant rumors about Jay Z’s next effort. At the time, several different reports claimed that it would be a joint project between Hov and Bey. Those album talks were later silenced, even if momentarily, by ‘Yoncé’s pregnancy.
