The stars came out on Sunday (Jun. 25) as the 2017 BET Awards took over the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by comedian Leslie Jones, the 17th annual show opened with an electric and groovy performance of “Perm” by Bruno Mars. DJ Khaled, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil’ Wayne, Migos and Post Malone, Maxwell, Mary J. Blige and A$AP Rocky, Future and Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Migos, Trey Songz, Chris Brown and Gucci Mane, SZA, French Montana and Swae Lee, Xscape, Tamar Braxton, Khalid, and Jessie Reyez all performed during the 4-hour extravaganza.

Chance the Rapper received this year’s BET Humanitarian Award and iconic R&B group New Edition were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Beyoncé leads the pack this year with seven nominations, with Mars following in second receiving five nods. Chance the Rapper, Migos, and Solange Knowles are right behind Bruno Mars, each with four nominations respectively.
