Listen: Tres x The Busy Twist — Etali Nga Te

Tres, The Busy Twist

London based production collective The Busy Twist have become known for their unique brand of dancefloor-ready remixes, re-edits, live DJ sets and original productions which showcase the best of world music, set to their skilfully crafted electronic/bass productions.

Releasing music on their own label Busy Life Music, they join the dots between African, South American, Caribbean and UK electronic music by developing a sound which melds the sonic genealogy of all four palettes whilst representing each genre faithfully and re-imagining them in a contemporary way. Having travelled the globe to find inspiration and musical collaborators, they have developed an exchange with local artists that works in both directions, this is crucial to creating the borderless music that The Busy Twist aim to do.

Their previous releases have enjoyed radio support from the likes of Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson, Jillionaire, Branko, Anna Lunoe and Toddla T with press platforms such as The Guardian, Noisey, Dummy, Hyponik, Clash and OkayAfrica also championing their widely acclaimed sound.

Their new single ‘Etali Nga Te’ is the first offering from an exciting collaboration with Congolese artist Tres AKA ‘Kinsasha Boy’. Sang in English, French and native Congo Language lingala, this upbeat love song was written by Tres to show admiration for a woman close to his heart in an effort to empower her with his boundless love and affection.

The track takes inspiration from traditional Congo and francophone style influences driven by an infectious soukus style guitar riff and a high tempo afro beats inspired production topped with rich harmonious melodies and some catchy word play. The collaboration also includes an album and live show which they will be touring next year.
