Yusef Slim — Smoking Through Depression

Yusef Slim makes his debut with this new jumpy cut.

Yusef says “this is a song about how drug dependency can interact with ongoing mental health issues like depression and the mental gymnastics involved in justifying its use to yourself.“

Roy Midas — G.C. Mortez

Roy Midas is unique with the flows and I feel he has got the potential to be great. I think with the right production he could be making greater songs. In the meantime listen to “G.C. Mortez”

Oloff — Blazed It Yesterday

Blazed It Yesterday is kind of an act of defiance. Both against genre norms and also ideological ones. It’s also just a straight-up banger.

I express discontent with my situation, but not with my music. I’m confident about what I do but not always that I’m set up for success in all the ways that you need to be in 2019. But here I’m basically reiterating that I’ll never stop doing this no matter how bad or how difficult it gets, and that this is what I love. I also turn the eye towards the listener, asking whether they’re really doing what is right for them or if they’re just doing what’s been laid out for them. There’s a kind of morbid, consumerist societal malaise that makes me uncomfortable.

Then there’s also some random lines about bongs and jizz because I like to keep things ignorant too.

EMM — Satisfied

EMM, the groundbreaking singer-songwriter, producer, performer, musician and women’s advocate, is back releasing music (after taking 2 months building her incredible show!) with her newest single “Satisfied.”

Written by EMM & Zoe Fisher, and produced by EMM and Taylor Wilzbach, “Satisfied” is a fresh and innovative dark sonic blend that mixes R&B horns with EMM’s signature pop/alt vocals.

Alea — No Hay Na’

Colombian singer/songwriter Alea released her new single and music video No Hay Na’, a neo-tropical and latin-urban groove that speaks to the challenges of finding authentic love and finding yourself in these fast-paced times.

No Hay Na’ is the first single of an album rooted in female and latin empowerment, and in the exploration of urban musical styles as well as traditional genres from Colombia, Mexico and the Caribbean. It was produced by Sinuhé Padilla-Isunza, and also features exceptional musicians like Franco Pina and George Sáenz. The music video, directed by Henry Burgos in Barranquilla, Colombia, shows the artist growing weary of dating and the lack of vulnerability and authenticity in the people with whom she’s seeking a real connection.
