Drake’s One Dance Is Now U.K.’s Longest-Running No. 1 Single In Over 20 Years

3 Jul 2016 By Prodizzle

One Dance Is Now U.K.’s Longest-Running No. 1 Single In Over 20 Years.

It’s impossible to deny that Drake followed up a successful 2015 with an even bigger 2016. Aside from entertaining fans by turning himself into several memes, delivering laughs on Saturday Night Liveand providing a great radio show with OVO Sound, his most important input for the year has been the release of the long-awaited Views.

The lead single, “One Dance” featuring Wizkid and Kyla, has been buzzing since its release in early April. Three months later, the single has managed to reach No. 1 on the charts and hold that top spot for weeks. This week marked the 12th week “One Dance” has been at the No. 1 spot in the U.K. This accomplishment makes it now the longest-running No. 1 single on the U.K. charts in 22 years.

According to Billboard, the last single to last at No. 1 in the U.K. for this long was Wet Wet Wet’s single “Love Is All Around”—which held the top spot for 15 weeks. While “One Dance” continues to blast from every passing car as summer gets into full swing, the possibility of Drake breaking that record doesn’t seem like an impossible feat.

We’ll have to wait and see if Drake can last a few more weeks at the top to break that record, but until then we can continue running “One Dance” on repeat.
