Eminem’s ‘Kamikaze’ Album Debuts No. 1 on Billboard

Eminem lands his ninth chart-topping album, as Kamikaze takes the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 this week. The surprise album, which dropped one week ago, moved 434,000 equivalent album units opening week according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 252,000 were in traditional album sales. Kamikaze‘s huge debut easily surpasses the heavily criticized Revival, which moved 267,000 units in Jan 2018.

Eminem’s Kamikaze produced the 4th largest sales week of 2018. It only trails Drake’s Scorpion (732,000), Travis Scott’s Astroworld (537,000) and Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys (461,000). Praised by many for abandoning the commercial and pop sound of RevivalKamikaze features guest appearances by Jessie Reyez, Royce Da 5’9″, Justin Vernon and Joyner Lucas.
