Jay Z Has Unreleased Tupac Diss Record
Just in case you never knew, DJ Clark Kent and Jay Z had a lot going on between them in the 90s. The illustrious producer is responsible for a few of the instrumentals on Reasonable Doubt, including “Brooklyn’s Finest,” “Coming of Age,” “Cashmere Thoughts.”
He recently appeared on the the A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal podcast, where he touched on the early stages of Hov’s career and revealed that back in 1996 the rapper had recorded a diss aimed at Tupac Shakur, which served as a response to the intro on The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, “Bomb First.”
Jay didn’t release the record out of respect for the fact Pac was shot and killed around that time, but he did perform it live once while the West Coast legend was still alive.
Jay did a record going at Pac but right as it was about to go out, son died. We performed it though. We was at the Apollo. It was…scathing. Like crowds was like, ‘Oh, s***.’ Like it was super hard, super hard. If he was alive, there woulda been no coming back. Nothing. This was so tough. Like it, to me, it probably was one of the hardest diss records I’ve ever heard.” – DJ Clark Kent
