Mavin Records, a Nigerian powerhouse label, has announced their ten-year anniversary. To kick off the festivities, they’ve released a new single called ‘Won Da Mo,’ which is taken from their upcoming Mavin10 compilation album, which will be released in December. (Please keep quiet until midnight.)
It’s an exciting time for Mavin, especially with African music set to dominate global music discussions in 2022. With co-signs from internationally recognised names such as Ed Sheeran and Selena Gomez, they have paved the way for the genres to grow beyond imagination as key figures in the Afrobeats world (and wider genres). This month alone, three Nigerian artists have charted in the UK Top 40, including Mavin’s Rema with ‘Calm Down,’ demonstrating the country’s dominance in the industry.
With an unrivalled roster of musicians, producers, songwriters, and executives, the Mavin label has created their own eco-system. Artists such as Ayra Starr and Rema are flying the Mavin flag, reflecting the label’s growth since COO Tega first officially introduced Mavin to the UK music scene four years ago. They have since established themselves as the heart and soul of the popular African music landscape.
