Watch A Tribe Called Quest’s new video for “The Space Program”
After almost three decades, A Tribe Called Quest are officially bowing out with their last ever video, “The Space Program.” Directed by Warren Fu, the eight-minute sci-fi film follows Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White on a slowly deteriorating spacecraft as a racial dystopia unfolds back home. Just as their spaceship runs out of oxygen (with the warning message “I Can’t Breathe”), the three wise Tribesman wake up on a peaceful alien planet.
“The Space Program,” taken from Tribe’s We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service LP, boasts a star-studded cast of cameos from Pharrell, Common, Black Thought, Erykah Badu, Vince Staples, Anderson .Paak, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Questlove and more. The video’s ending reads “For Malik” in tribute to the late, great Phife Dawg.
