Troy Ave drops off the new single “Why,” off the “Dope Boy Troy” project.

Troy Ave has never been one to hold his tongue. His past beefs, including one that almost cost him his life, are a testament to his pugnacity. Gearing up for his upcoming project Dope Boy Troy, the Brooklyn boy dropped “Why.”

On his new track, Rolland Collins expresses his dismay at mainstream rappers’ seeming inability to be authentic. Why can’t they be like him, he asks throughout the song. He says he’s sold so much coke he’s earned the right to take the name from his block. On a skewed production reminiscent of the movie Scarface, he spits he’s dangerous to these rappers “on dick.”Dope Boy Troy drops March 24. In the meantime, listen to “Why.”
