Doja Cat has been saying for a long that the next Planet Her album would include more of her rapping abilities and less of her musical sensibilities. Her first single of 2023, “Attention,” doesn’t strike that chord, at least not right away. At the one-minute mark, however, Amala abandons the harmonies in favour of a bars-filled, boom-bap tune in which she addresses all of the critiques, comments, and misconceptions about Doja Cat and her music.
