Vince Staples “Lift Me Up” Video

Vince Staples shares an amazinge video for “Lift Me Up.”

Between Vince Staples’ controversial opinions on the ’90s and witty NBA Twitter commentary, it’s sometimes easy to forget that he’s an actual rapper responsible for one of the best hip hop albums of 2015. Summertime ’06 has already produced some arresting visuals — “Senorita” & “Norf Norf” — and again young Staples delivers with “Lift Me Up.”

“Lift Me Up” is all about social stratification and upward mobility… or lackthereof. The video is a literal metaphor. Staples’ dead body enters the afterlife by rapping the song around the industrial shores of his native Long Beach before ascending to the heavens.
