Two months later, Beats 1 uploaded the official video from Eminem’s interview with Zane Lowe.
In the very beginning of the interview, Em elaborated on the process behind the OST. He revealed he handled it with the help of his manager Paul Rosenberg and confirmed it features contributions from 50 Cent, Action Bronson, and Slaughterhouse as well as himself. As far as the track “Phenomenal” is concerned, the rapper explained the producers of Southpaw wanted a song which resembles “Till I Collapse” and carries the same energy. The visuals for the single are coming out on July 3rd via Apple Music. Until then, here’s a trailer for the music video.
The Shady Records head honcho also revealed the concept for Southpaw came around 5 years ago. Em was slated to take the main roles, but was ultimately replaced by Jake Gyllenhaal. He doesn’t regret his decision to give up the role and revealed he took it because at that time he was too busy recording The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
