With an upcoming tour and major-label deal signed and ready to go, rumors started to circulate that Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, had a new single coming. The actor, television producer and Grammy Award-winning artist pulled double-duty on Saturday Night Live this weekend, serving as host and musical guest (see below).
Shortly before SNL went live-to-air, Gambino debuted his new single titled “This Is America.” The record comes with an accompanying music video, directed by Hiro Murai. The raw, graphic and eye-opening visual takes aim at social and government issues in the United States, a perfect backdrop to Gambino’s sharp lyrics over the hard-hitting production. Young Thug, 21 Savage, A$AP Rocky and BlocBoy Jb provide additional ad-libs and vocals on the track, while TDE’s SZA makes a cameo in the visual.
