GOLDA - The GOLDA Complex (EP)

Following a string of ecclesiastical singles, GOLDA are pleased to announce their debut EP ‘The GOLDA Complex’, released via tastemaker label Majestic Casual.

The five track EP includes the simmering single ‘NsfW’ and hard hitting R&B joint ‘Villain’, each song telling a twisted narrative of inner conflict, vicarious satisfaction and loss of control. Blurring the boundaries between pop and R&B, the project also defies gendered expectations, instead producing sizzling scenes of sexual desire, with the most salacious parts left to the listener’s imagination.

Abandoning sleep because she’s afraid to close her eyes, GOLDA’s only comfort lies in music. Dark, sweaty, drug-infested music that reflects her inner self”. This dark mantra is enrapturing – shrouding the EP in mystery. Drowning in lo-fi samples and sub-bass, new single ‘City Girls’ is textured with complex percussion patterns and intricately layered vocals, inviting the listener into a world of electronic discord and shadowy debauchery.

Mystery is at the very core of their artistry, and ‘The GOLDA Complex’ is a kaleidoscope of 90s R&B samples, fierce chords and smooth vocals, all coated with a heavy dose of sub bass and crackling electronica. The anonymous act’s cryptic portrayal is carried by a warm organ, whilst a somewhat desolate vocal leads the EP’s ethereal sound into a nebulous world of futuristic soundscapes.
