Quavo also explained the origin of the word dab (“It wasn’t about smoking at all. Dabbing is like a way of fashion. We always used to say, ‘look at my swag.’ We kept the word swag and just changed it to dab. Like, ‘look at my dab’”) while Offset revealed that Quavo almost deleted the group’s “Look at My Dab” song, which kickstarted the trend in the first place.

Migos’ triplet flow has also had a huge influence on the game, but Quavo thinks it’s time for other artists to innovate their own style. “I’d rather see other artists find they own self, though,” he said. “I like them doing it — do it once, a couple times, it let me know you watching me. But I wanna see what you do, find yourself. Maybe I can learn something from you that I can put in my music.”

With “Bad and Boujee” becoming a Billboard-topping hit, there’s no denying Migos’ impact on hip-hop — and pop culture as a whole. “I can respectfully say to myself that I changed the game,” Offset said.
