Tinashe’s Joyride feels more imminent than ever. With plans to head out on tour next month, the singer has now shared a new record from the project, teaming once again with Mike WiLL Made It (who provided “Thug Cry” on Aquarius) as well as Juicy J for “Energy”.
From the lineup alone, you might assume this was another high-energy single akin to “2 On” or “All Hands On Deck,” instead it has more in common with the murky ballads buried deep within the singer’s debut album. The moody record is not without its share of hooks however, and once again proves that Tinashe never lets her songwriting coast on atmosphere alone.
