Adekunle Gold Releases “Tequila Ever After” Album

Tequila Ever After is Adekunle Gold’s first album for Def Jam Recordings. Singles “Party No Dey Stop” and “Ogaranya” as well as songs from his 2018 EP Tio Tequila are featured on the album. Gold’s wife Simi, along with Nigerian artist Zinoleesky, Texas phenom Khalid, veterans Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, and others appear on the album’s 17 tracks.

Tequila Ever After is a tribute to the music of Africa, which has recently become immensely popular around the world. Gold describes it as a reflection of his evolution as a musician and a person in the time since his last album was released. He explains how he has changed since his 2016 debut album: “I’m not the Adekunle Gold who released my first album.” I feel much more assured in myself now. By fusing classic R&B with a fusion of Nigerian and American rhythms, Gold has established himself as one of Africa’s most important modern performers and the undisputed king of Afro-pop.

Following the album’s release, Adekunle Gold will go on a September tour across North America. Nonso Amadi, an Afro-R&B artist from Canada, will be his opening act for the 17-show tour, which begins on September 22. Tickets for the Tequila Ever After Tour, presented by Live Nation and Duke Concept, may be purchased right now at Tequilaeverafter.com/tour.
