I’ll be honest, it’s strange watching DJ Khaled’s star rise so late on in his career like this. I mean, it’s not like the guy has suddenly developed a larger-than-life personality. And he’s not exactly a stranger to the masses, thanks to hits with the likes of Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. But through a mix of shrewd marketing and fortuitous timing, Khaled has managed to take America by storm with his endlessly entertaining Snapchat antics.

Put it this way: could you imagine DJ Khaled being interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres off the strength of “No New Friends” or “They Don’t Love You No More”? Hell no. But with his hashtag-friendly catchphrases like “major keys” and “they don’t want you to…” sweeping the nation, Khaled found his way onto The Ellen Show earlier this week to personally introduce himself to the moms of middle America.
After giving one of his Don King-esque speeches about his status in the rap game, Khaled went on share a few major keys to success and explain exactly who “they” are. “Please, Ellen, stay away from them,” he warned. “They is the person that told you you would you never have an Ellen show.” Naturally, Khaled couldn’t leave the show without getting a quick Snapchat in with Ellen.
