Eminem has released a chilling video for his latest single, “Tobey,” featuring fellow Detroit rappers Big Sean and BabyTron. Directed by Cole Bennett from Lyrical Lemonade, the video immerses viewers in a gritty, intense atmosphere that perfectly matches the track’s raw energy.
The video kicks off with BabyTron delivering his verses from a warehouse rooftop, rapping, “Upped in the bitch, you can keep what you owe / Granny told me, ‘Boy, you reap what you sow’ / Do the most, we over, even the score / Steady on the run, glued his feet to the floor.”
Big Sean then takes over from a power plant setting, accelerating the tempo with his rapid-fire flow. He spits,
“I put all of my heart and my soul in it / I met you in person, you so different / I can’t listen to you for a whole minute / Took a blood test, ain’t no ho in it / Watch your motherfucking mouth ‘fore I go in it,”
setting the stage for Eminem’s scathing verse.
In a Jason Vorhees mask and wielding a chainsaw, Eminem questions the legitimacy of top rapper lists, rapping,
“Ain’t feelin’ your top five favorite rappers / So I know they ’bout to be pissed at me / But this, to me, is a mystery / How rappers I’ve already ripped could be / Higher up on a list than me / Yet here I sit on your list though at five, which still was fine.”
“Tobey” follows the release of “Houdini” and both singles are part of Eminem’s upcoming album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), set to drop on Friday, July 12.
