After producing and appearing on her comeback single “WTF (Where They From),” Pharrell recently welcomed Missy Elliott onto his Beats 1 show, OTHERtone. Joined by co-host Scott Vener, Skateboard P interviewed Missy about their work together — both past and present — her love for Puff Daddy and how she paved the way for many of today’s artists.
I think when you’re creative, you know that you have something that is different. You just have to step out in faith and not be scared. You have to be true to yourself — that’s the biggest thing. I said, “I don’t want to do something because it’s trendy and it don’t work.” But if I’m true to myself, then I’m able to sleep at night if it don’t work.
