For years, the sequel to Redman’s classic ’96 LP Muddy Waters has sat next to Jay Electronica’s Act II, DOOM and Madlib’s Madvillainy 2 and an André 3000 solo album on the list of Long-Awaited Albums That You’re Better Off Forgetting About. While Reggie has teased the release of Muddy Waters 2 Too numerous times over the last few years, dare I say it might actually be on the way.
Earlier this month, Redman released a new single called “Ya!,” produced by L.A. duo Mike & Keys (who’ve done a lot of work with Nipsey Hussle, Buddy and Dom Kennedy), designed to whet our appetites for Muddy Waters Too. Today, he keeps the ball rolling by sharing the song’s accompanying video, which proves there’s still plenty of spunk left in the Funk Doc. Let’s hope he keeps this same energy for MW2.
