One of the most sought-after producers in grime, Rude Kid has crafted beats for the likes of Skepta, Wiley, Kano and JME and many more, while his recent 653 EP with Ghetts saw the birth of One Take, which rippled through the grime scene, being re-vocalled by everyone from Jammer, Flowdan, Chip, Yungen and Stormzy.
The London based 140bm beatsmith’s latest offering comes in the form of the Noah’s Ark EP, a four-track instrumental release that displays an impressive array of dark and evocative bass patterns. Taken from the EP, i-D are pleased to premiere Wiley Kat, a straight up banger that goes in hard from the off. “I named this tune after the godfather of grime, Wiley, because when I was making it I was picturing him MCing over the tune,” Rude Kid tells i-D. “I think he was the first person I showed it to when it was done and I was flattered that he loved it. It’s the perfect tune for my DJ sets.”
